Tributes paid to Clydebank ‘legend’ who died after horror crash on A82 as police probe continues

Heartbroken friends of a Clydebank ‘legend’ have paid tribute to their pal after he tragically lost his life on the A82.

The man, named locally as Christopher Devine, was walking westbound near Duntocher, West Dunbartonshire, when he was hit by a car shortly after 5pm.

Emergency services raced to the scene and closed down the busy road but the 34-year-old was tragically pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Christopher has been hailed a 'legend' by his friends (UGC)

The male driver of the car was uninjured following the horror collision but police confirmed that the 40-year-old had been arrested in connection with road traffic offences.

Their probe into the circumstances surrounding Monday’s crash remains ongoing while heartbroken friends of the tragic victim have paid tribute on social media.

One pal wrote: “Rest easy Christopher Devine. What a legend.”

Another said: “Rest easy Christopher. Thoughts are with your family and your friends and I will look after ur friends until we all meet again for a party in heaven.”

A third added: “RIP Christopher Devine you were some guy. Going to miss the pad sessions.”

Officers are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area around the time of the collision to come forward.

They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have dash cam footage that could help with their probe.

Sergeant Paul MacPherson said: “An investigation is under way to establish the circumstances of this incident and I am appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time it occurred to contact us.

“ In particular, if you have a dash cam, please check your footage as it could hold images which could assist us in our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Road Policing Officers via 101, quoting incident number 2255 of Monday, 23 November, 2020.
