Tottenham target ex-Swansea City coach Graham Potter to replace Jose Mourinho

Former Swansea City boss Graham Potter is reportedly on the managerial wishlist of Tottenham Hotspur's technical director Steve Hitchen.

According to the Daily Mail, Potter is high on Hitchen's list of possible candidates, with the current Brighton and Hove Albion boss believed to have also won over several other admirers within the club.

Tottenham parted company with previous boss Jose Mourinho last month, and have seen a number of big name candidates slip through the net, including Julian Nagelsmann, Jesse Marsch and Erik ten Hag.

It means Spurs chief Daniel Levy will now likely have to go back to the drawing board in his latest search, although Hitchen is nevertheless likely to have a big say on things.

The suggestion is that Hitchen is set to send on his wishlist to Levy, which is expected to feature Potter, despite Brighton currently sitting in 14th place.

Brighton's lack of cutting edge in the final third means they have spent most of the season at the wrong end of the table.

Nevertheless, Potter has earned a fair amount of praise among his peers, although his chances will likely depend on whether Levy is willing to go with an up-and-coming coach rather than a big name.

Current Swans boss Steve Cooper has previously been mentioned as a possibility, but he seems to have fallen off the radar in North London, with sources at the Liberty Stadium also pouring cold water on any possible approach.
