Thunder may work to move Chris Paul following trade with Rockets

Chris Paul is reportedly on his way back to Oklahoma City following a deal between the Rockets and the Thunder, which sent Russell Westbrook to Houston to play with former Thunder teammate James Harden.

Although Chris Paul is back where his NBA career started — playing in Oklahoma City for the Hornets in 2005-06 and 2006-07 while New Orleans recovered from Hurricane Katrina — he may not be with the Thunder for long.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting the Thunder may look to move the veteran point guard. Although his contract ends in 2021-22, a year before Westbrook’s, the acquisition of Paul does not help the Thunder’s pursuit of getting below the luxury tax.

The Thunder could continue to work to find a new team for the 34-year-old Paul, league sources said.

Wojnarowski is also reporting the Thunder could use some of their draft picks in a deal to help move Paul to another team.
