It’s important to note here that Andrew Fillipponi is a Pittsburgh radio host who prides himself on being the dissenting opinion and doing all he can to cast a negative light on all things related to the Pittsburgh Steelers for shock value. But when he took to Twitter to subtweet new Steelers tight end Eric Ebron, Ebron decided to respond, making Fillipponi and his nameless scout look silly.
The Steelers signed Ebron as a free agent in hopes of adding a legitimate weapon in the passing game. Ebron might not have had the career some anticipated when he was a first-round pick but he’s improved over the past three seasons and should give Ben Roethlisberger a big target he needs.
As for Fillipponi, I’m glad Ebron didn’t just let this go. If we are all Steelers fans, there’s no reason we should do anything but build Ebron up as he starts this new chapter in his career. Pittsburgh is going to lean heavily on his skills and it’s easy to see him being one of the best players on the offense in 2020.
