Armed men wielding a shotgun burst into a Liverpool home and attacked a woman in a terrifying home raid.
Three thugs in balaclavas forced their way into a property in Speke late on Thursday night.
They then assaulted a 27-year-old woman and searched the home before fleeing the scene.
The men broke into a house on Alderwood Avenue at around 11.30pm, attacking the woman and leaving her with a bruised eye.
They then reportedly searched the top floor of the home before leaving in a dark-coloured Volkswagen Golf.
The men are described as having been wearing black clothing, balaclavas and black gloves.
Merseyside Police said an investigation has been launched and house-to-house and CCTV enquiries have been carried out.
Detective Inspector Paul Jones said: “We would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Alderwood Avenue at around 11.30pm last night or saw anyone or anything suspicious to contact us as they may have information which is vital to our investigation.
“I would also ask anyone who was in the area who may have mobile phone or dash cam footage to contact us as they may be able to assist with our enquiries.”
