Harrods slammed for selling £110 Burberry shirt in its 'Back To School' section

High-end department store Harrods has been slammed for stocking a Burberry shirt in their 'Back to School' section - for an eye-watering £110.

The multi-print cotton top is available online ahead of the start of the new term.

While many parents are counting the cost as they are faced with shelling out for the September return to school, Harrods have been accused of being detached from reality with the pricey alternative to uniform.

The shirt in the trademark Burberry tartan colours are available in sizes starting from age three to 14 years.

Fashion-conscious parents can even pick up shorts for their children - if they are winning to shell out another £96 to complete the combo.

The items was spotted weeks after the Knightsbridge store appointed former Burberry director Caitlin Innes as its first ever digital and strategy director.

Shoppers went online to question why Harrods were stocking the outfit in its 'Back To School' section.

After seeing the post on Facebook , one wrote: "The patterns make me so uncomfortable."

Another said: "Back to School?' In my school days the ones wearing this print weren't the type to regularly attend!"

One added: "Why pay £110 to advertise you are a chav when they'll be knocking these out down the market for under a tenner before school starts again?"

Others were quick to point out that kids won't get away with wearing Burberry is class.

"They'll be sent home as soon as they arrive, it's not the real world," one shopper posted.
