PARENTS are raising safeguarding concerns after a school pipe band played for Donald Trump, friends with notorious paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, when he opened a new golf course in Aberdeenshire.
Pipers from the Robert Gordon’s College band welcomed the US president, a convicted felon, to his new course at Balmedie on Tuesday.
But parents are furious about the engagement, given Trump’s links to Epstein and his refusal to publish sealed files about Epstein’s sex crimes, in which it has been reported that he is named – a claim Trump rejects.
One mum with a child at the prestigious Aberdeen private school told The National: “Even if you put his politics aside, he’s just a reprehensible character.”
She added that while Trump was not a “convicted sex offender”, he was one “morally”, having previously bragged of grabbing women “by the pussy”.
Another source, who sent three of his children to the school, said that the gig was “lamentable” and added: “I know that many parents are quite incensed at the fact that children were involved in this, given that the Epstein report is still up in the air.”
He added that it was “a disgrace that a prestigious institution such as Robert Gordon’s College” would welcome Trump and said his children who went to the school were “disappointed”.
The mother said the school faced questions about its policy on accepting gigs, claiming that the justification from headmaster Robin MacPherson had been that the school did not turn down offers.
She said: “Past practice needs to give way to principle. Just because they haven’t declined an opportunity before, it’s not a justification.”
Robert Gordon’s College was approached for comment.
