The Albanese government’s 2024 decision to refuse Candace Owens a visa has been unanimously backed by the high court. The home affairs minister, Tony Burke, who rejected the rightwing provocateur’s application before a planned speaking tour of Australia, applauded the decision as “a win for social cohesion”.
Meanwhile, the US state department revoked the visas of six foreigners who made social media comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. The decision came as Donald Trump posthumously awarded the rightwing activist with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
