Report: Tony Khan could be up for an increased role in Jags front office in 2020

Sunday afternoon, we elaborated on the report that surfaced about the Jacksonville Jaguars leaning towards keeping coach Doug Marrone and general manager Dave Caldwell, but there was another interesting tidbit to the report in which we wanted to save for another post. Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Jags could also be looking to give Executive Vice President of Football Administration and Technology, Tony Khan, an increased role in the front office.

As the son of owner Shad Khan, Tony has long been apart of the Jags’ front office, so it makes sense that he’d want to have more of a hand in things, especially when considering the fact that the team could be his down the road. Additionally, he’s worked closely with Marrone and Caldwell and would unquestionably be less of an issue than former Jags executive Tom Coughlin, who Tony could replace.

I was on record for saying the Jags should pull off a clean sweep and get rid of Caldwell and Marrone as well, but regardless as to if they go or stay, Tony’s increased presence could be a good thing. However, with him also having a role with Shad’s football club, Fulham, and being the top guy in All Elite Wrestling, fans have to wonder if he’d be able to pull off the workload.
