Chris Kane's late flashpoint with Cameron Carter-Vickers may have dominated the headlines after Celtic 's win over St Johnstone.
But there was much to be admired about Nick Walsh's performance – according to former Premier League ref Keith Hackett.
Ange Postecoglou 's team cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win over the Saints, sealed by Josip Juranovic's 80th minute penalty.
That came after Walsh gave Celtic the advantage twice in the build-up - once for a foul on Kyogo Furuhashi and another for Jota being upended.
The attack was allowed to flow and that led to Jota being brought down in the area, with Walsh finally pointing to the spot.
And Hackett, speaking to Football Insider, said: “This was brilliant.
“Often you can play advantage and it doesn’t come off. To apply two advantages and to keep the game running, it was pretty good officiating.
“This is a referee that is moving well around the field of play, he’s confident, he’s managing players very effectively. At the core of it all is he’s making accurate decisions.
“He’s got a great understanding of the game, he’s got a great understanding of the players, referees of that quality need to be encouraged. Well done him."
He went on to suggest that PMGOL – the official refereeing body for English football – should be considering an offer to the whistler.
Because his officiating even topped what England's VAR brings to the table.
Hackett went on: “If I was the boss of the PGMOL now I’d say ‘Fancy a couple of games in England?’
“You've got to praise the decision. Look at his proximity to play, well done him.
“What we have to understand is the line is the penalty box, so I’m giving it. Look at his position! That’s a better position than VAR in England.
“He’s a really good referee, I’ll keep an eye on him.”
