Redmill Care Home in West Lothian has reported another three Covid-19 deaths

Another three Covid-19 related deaths have been reported at a West Lothian nursing home.

Redmill Care Home in East Whitburn has now had 14 deaths at their facility since the outbreak began earlier this month.

The home announced on October 17 that 35 residents and 20 members of staff had tested positive for Covid-19.

An HC-One spokesman said: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with all families who have lost a loved one from coronavirus and we are doing our utmost to support them during this difficult time.

“Supporting our residents is at the heart of what we do and our colleagues are doing everything they can to care for residents at Redmill in what are hugely difficult circumstances.

“We have a comprehensive coronavirus contingency plan in place and we are working closely with NHS Lothian and Public Health to ensure we are doing all we can to respond to and overcome this outbreak.

“A very significant amount of resource and senior leadership time is being dedicated to this home so that we can help as many residents as possible to return to good health.”

As of October 24 there were 49 new positive tests returned in West Lothian, with 336 over a seven day period and a total of 1865 since records began earlier this year.

This means the county continues to sit high above the national average,

In West Lothian there were 199 people per 100,000 testing positive for the contagion over a seven day period but Scotland wide that number is just 144.
