Putting problems? Donald Trump accused of cheating at golf again

US President Donald Trump after hitting a ball off the first tee to officially open the New Course, the second championship course at Trump International Golf Links, on the Menie Estate in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire (Jane Barlow/PA) - (PA Wire)

Donald Trump has been accused of cheating on the golf course in clips that have gone viral on social media.

Footage has spread like wildfire online which claim to show the US President getting an extra hand when it comes to sinking the final putt during a round on one of his Scottish courses.

He was first spotted on his Turnberry course over the weekend when it was claimed he had some help from a caddie who dropped the ball for him in a very easy spot.

But that is not the only allegation of cheating he has faced.

There are two clips which have been picked up of him playing the sport, and being sparing with the rules of the game.

One shows the US leader attempting to chip the ball, but landing it straight into the bunker.

He then manages to get the ball back on the green but then fluffs a putt toward the gall, before another wayward shot is attempted.

Eventually he just picks up the ball rather than finishing the hole.

The other, taken on the sly from inside the building, shows Trump pulling up in a golf cart with a bunker directly in front of a bunker.

Two caddies are accompanying him on the round, but the camera pans to see one helper stopping, and dropping a ball in front of the president in a very favourable position.

And the clip quickly took hold of the internet, with many commenting on the move and calling out the president as a cheat.

Some claimed to not be that surprised:

While some said this was not new news, and they had heard about these rumours before:

Others were quick to poke fun and the memes begun quickly:

Trump's golf game has been well documented in the past.

US Sportswriter Rick Reilly previously wrote a book about Trump's relationship with golf called Commander in Cheat.

To write the book he he spoke with people who had played with the president over the years.

In an excerpt published by Golf.com, it reads: “Trump doesn’t just cheat at golf. He cheats like a three-card Monte dealer. He throws it, boots it, and moves it.

“He lies about his lies. He fudges and foozles and fluffs. At Winged Foot, where Trump is a member, the caddies got so used to seeing him kick his ball back onto the fairway they came up with a nickname for him: 'Pele.'”
