Prince Andrew’s private secretary has agreed to quit following his disastrous Newsnight interview .

Amanda Thirsk will receive a payment worth tens of thousands of pounds after reaching an agreement to end her employment in the royal household, according to Sky News.

The former banker was blamed for arranging the Duke of York’s career-ending BBC interview over his links to the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

An announcement is expected to be made to inform staff about her departure, according to a royal insider.

However, it is understood she will continue as chief executive of Pitch@Palace Global Limited, the privately owned international arm of Andrew’s project to back entrepreneurs.

In November’s interview, the prince failed to express any sympathy for the victims of Epstein, who was found hanged in jail in August while awaiting trial for sex trafficking.

Days after the broadcast, he was effectively retired from his public duties .

Ms Thirsk, 54, headed the duke’s all-woman inner circle of advisers, whom aides dubbed “Andy’s Angels”.

The mother of three was hired in 2004 as his “office controller” and became his private secretary in 2012.
