A man accused of making death threats while armed with a knife and hammer outside a Home Office building has been charged by police.
Oluwaleke Yisa, 30, of Deptford, south-east London, will appear at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
He stands charged with possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a knife in a public place.
Members of the public flagged down police officers at around 12.45pm on Tuesday, saying an armed man was making “threats to kill” near the government building on St Thomas Street.
The building, Becket House, is an immigration service office.
He is accused of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife in a public place following the stabbing of a civil service worker on Thursday.
He is due to appear in Southwark Crown Court next month after appearing at Westminster Magistrates' court on Saturday.
A government employee in his 60s was pictured holding a dressing to his face after being slashed in the attack on Marsham Street.
The victim was led away by paramedics before being taken to a major trauma centre. The Met said the injuries sustained by the man were neither life-threatening or life-changing.
Hornberger, who was remanded in custody, will next appear in court on Friday September 13.
