One person hospitalised after five car crash at Castlemartyr, Co Cork

One person was hospitalised after a five car pile-up in Co Cork Tuesday morning.

Five vehicles, all of which were travelling in the same direction, went into the back of each other shortly after midday at Castlemartyr.

Gardai and an ambulance were called to the scene with hefty delays for the early afternoon as a result, Cork Beo reports.

One passenger from one of the vehicles was taken to Cork University Hospital with minor injuries as a precautionary measure. Gardai confirmed they are investigating the incident.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating a five car road traffic collision that occurred on the N25 at Knocknane on Tuesday at approximately 12:25pm.

"No serious damage caused. One passenger taken to Cork University Hospital as a precaution with minor injuries. All vehicles were traveling in the same direction. Investigations are ongoing."
