Noel Gallagher flouts lockdown rules as he panic buys booze to cope with isolation

Noel Gallagher has flouted lockdown rules by hoarding alcohol in his house.

Outrage hit headlines when selfish people stockpiling meant others - including NHS workers and the vulnerable - were having to go without certain items such as toilet roll.

But the former Oasis lead singer, 52, had no qualms admitting he had been panic buying booze in the coronavirus crisis gripping the UK and the rest of the world.

He told the Funny How? podcast: “I’ve been panic buying booze.”

The singer has been holed up in his house with wife Sara MacDonald and their kids.

Noel confessed he had to stockpile on booze because it was how he was going to cope with isolation.

He said: “Now that the pubs are shut the only thing to now is to drink your way through it.

“If you don’t leave the house you’ll be OK. I don’t see anybody anyway, I ride my bike where I live and you get the odd car on the road but I don’t stop to talk to anybody.

“I can easily shut the door and stay in.”

Noel said the supermarkets near his home in Hampshire have all suffered the same empty shelves fate.

But this still hasn’t stopped him drinking to pass the days on lockdown with his family.

“We’re out of London, so well away from the mad house, we’re alright,” he explained.

“I live 75 miles outside of London now, so it’s different out here, I was in the supermarket because I wanted to see the bare shelves.

“I was in there because I thought, ‘I’ll get a load of booze’. And all that was there was a load of gluten-free Peroni. All the beers were gone!”

The High Flying Birds front man went on to chastise other Brits for bulk buying loo roll.

He asked: “What I want to know is what is it with the toilet roll?

“I live in ignorant bliss of everything, I don’t watch the news, but when I heard that people were buying toilet roll, I thought, ‘Oh, does it give you the shits?’ It was like, ‘No.’

“But people are mass buying toilet roll and hand sanitiser. I’m just going to wipe my a*** with one of my children.”

It comes just days after Liam Gallagher went mad at Noel after his brother joked about burning down his home.

The rocker, 47, was furious when he caught wind of his sibling jesting about setting his house on fire because of their ongoing feud in his latest interview.

In the foul-mouthed tweet, the singer unleashed his anger when he retaliated to his brother's comments.

Liam also confronted Noel, demanding an Oasis reunion to raise funds for the NHS after the coronavirus pandemic is over.
