CCTV footage has been released showing the moment an alleged gunman sprinted past security at a Washington hotel where the White House correspondents' dinner was being held.
The clip was shared by US President Donald Trump, who was swiftly evacuated along with wife Melania and senior members of his administration.
The video shows security staff waiting in an entrance area near the Washington Hilton hotel's main ballroom before a person is seen sprinting past them.
Speaking at a press conference at the White House a short time later, he said he had shared a video of the "thug" charging a security checkpoint as well as a photo of him in custody.
Trump said one Secret Service agent was shot at close range, but was saved by his bullet-proof vest.
"I just spoke to the officer, and he's doing great," he said.
