Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry was forced to withdraw from the Miss Universe competition on Thursday, November 20, after suffering injuries in an onstage fall during the preliminary evening gown round. The 28-year-old contestant did not appear in the broadcast, prompting widespread concern from viewers and pageant supporters.

The incident occurred the previous evening, November 19, during the preliminaries in Bangkok. Social media videos showed Henry walking gracefully across the stage in an orange gown and high heels before slipping and falling from the edge of the platform. The footage quickly circulated online, drawing sympathy and questions about her condition.

Hours later, Miss Universe pageant owner Raul Rocha issued a statement to reassure the public. “I would like to share with the Miss Universe family who are concerned for the health of our Miss Universe Jamaica, that at 12:00 a.m. Bangkok time, that I have just left the hospital where she is being treated,” he wrote on Instagram. “I was there with her family and her, and thankfully, there are no broken bones, and she is under good care.”

The Miss Universe Jamaica organization also released an update confirming Henry’s injuries were not life-threatening. “The Miss Universe Jamaica Organization wishes to advise the public that Dr. Gabrielle Henry, Miss Universe Jamaica 2025, experienced a fall from the main stage during the evening gown round of the preliminary competition ahead of this weekend’s Miss Universe Finals in Thailand,” the statement read.

“Medical professionals are attending to her care and have advised that she is not suffering from any life-threatening injuries; however, they continue to conduct tests to ensure her full recovery.” The organization thanked supporters for their concern and emphasized that Henry’s health remains the priority.

The fall prevented her from continuing in the competition, marking a disappointing turn for a candidate who had gained favorable attention leading up to the finals. Henry, a medical doctor, had been one of Jamaica’s most talked-about representatives in recent years.

Her poised stage presence and community outreach work had earned her praise throughout the pageant season. Fans from Jamaica and abroad expressed both relief at the positive medical updates and sadness that she would not have the chance to compete in the final round.

As the Miss Universe Finals proceed in Thailand, messages of support continue to spread across social media for Henry, with many applauding her grace, resilience, and representation of Jamaica on the international stage.
