- Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has claimed he advised Donald Trump to take down a Truth Social post depicting the president as Jesus Christ.
- Trump had also labelled Pope Leo “WEAK” on crime and “terrible” on foreign policy in a Sunday night (12 April) rant.
- The picture was then removed from Trump's account following backlash from Christian groups, before he stated that the image intended to show him “as a doctor”.
- Mike Johnson informed journalists that he told the president “it wasn’t being received in the same way he intended it.”
- “He pulled it down, that was the right thing to do”, he added.
