Mesut Ozil's message to Arsenal fans amid reports Jose Mourinho could replace Unai Emery

Mesut Ozil says he was 'not happy' following Arsenal's 1-1 draw against Wolves in the Premier League.

The German was named in the starting lineup for the visit of Nuno Espirito Santo's men and played the full 90 minutes of the match, after impressing in his return to first team action against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.

Ozil had made just one Premier League appearance this season before the Wolves match, playing 71 minutes of the 2-2 draw against bottom of the table Watford back in September.

Since then, the midfielder has found himself somewhat frozen out of Unai Emery's side, failing to make the match day squad in the last four Premier League games, as well as missing out on a squad place in the opening three Europa League matches.

The 31-year-old's only other appearance came in the Carabao Cup third round win against Nottingham Forest.

After forcing his way back into the starting eleven, Ozil has took to social media to send a message to Arsenal fans.

"Good to be back in Premier League action, but not happy about the result at home. Many things to work on. We have to keep moving forward with our heads held high."

The result leaves Unai Emery under increasing pressure, with the Gunners falling further off the pace behind Chelsea and Leicester in the race for a top four spot.

And according to The Times , the Gunners have begun preparing the ground for a change of management, with 'fractures' appearing between Emery and members of the playing squad.

The report claims Arsenal are looking for a manager with strong knowledge of the Premier League who can bring an identity to a squad who were reassembled at significant expense in the summer window - and that they are considering a move for Mourinho who dined with head of football Raul Sanllehi last week.

However, football.london understands Sanllehi did not have dinner with Mourinho and has not spoken to the former Chelsea manager in years.
