Mark Ruffalo and other celebrities protest against ICE at the Golden Globes

Celebrities at the Golden Globes honoured the woman killed by a US immigration agent in a red carpet protest against the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency last night.

Mark Ruffalo, Natasha Lyonne and Wanda Sykes were among the A-listers spotted wearing a badge that read “Be Good” at the 83rd annual Golden Globes at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

The pins protested the killing of 37-year-old Renee Good, as well as ICE’s presence in major Democrat-led cities, including Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Chicago, according to Variety.

Good was fatally shot by ICE agent Jonathan Ross while she was behind the wheel of her Honda Pilot during a protest against immigration raids in Minneapolis on Wednesday.

ICE subsequently claimed that Good hit Ross with her car and attempted to run him over before he fired at her three times.

However, in videos seen following the incident - including one Ross was filming with his phone – she appeared to have her wheels turned away from the ICE agent, indicating she may have intended to flee.

After Ross shot Good, a voice that may have been his could be heard shouting “f***ing b****!”.

The pins were also in memory of the death of Keith Porter, who was shot and killed by an off-duty ICE agent on New Year's Eve.

They were reportedly created by a group of “entertainment industry professionals” including the ACLU, Working Families Power, the National Domestic Workers Alliance, MoveOn and Maremoto.

Organisers said the campaign was meant to “remind us what it means to be good to one another in the face of such horror — to be a good citizen, neighbor, friend, ally and human”.

In a statement they said: “Everyday, everywhere, regular people are being good: keeping kids safe when they walk to school, filming fathers who are being disappeared from their workplaces, donating to fundraisers to support organizations who are keeping us safe.”

They also claimed the second Trump administration has spent $100 million to increase ICE recruitment after ICE agents killed more people in 2025 than they have in 20 years.

“For the past year, the Trump administration has been stretching federal power to punish and intimidate communities, often by turning immigrants into scapegoats and using the Department of Homeland Security as the tip of the spear,” the organisers added.

“ICE is not making our communities safer. They are bringing chaos into our streets, and families, immigrants, and US citizens alike, pay the price.”
