A man has denied unlawful wounding and dangerous driving after allegedly driving into a police officer while trying to avoid being stopped by authorities.

Ricky Preddie, also known as Ricky Johnson, was arrested on November 12 after allegedly unlawfully wounding a police officer, by driving an Alfa Romeo into her in north London.

Preddie gave his nationality as British and denied unlawful wounding, dangerous driving and driving while disqualified at Harrow Crown Court on Wednesday.

The court heard that, shortly after 4.10pm on Wednesday November 6, police officers attempted to stop a black Alfa Romeo A1F in Brent, north London.

The hearing was told that, as Preddie attempted to avoid being stopped by officers, he hit Natalia Trzeciak with the car in Windermere Avenue, Wembley.

Pc Trzeciak suffered wounds including serious neck and leg injuries.

Preddie, of Daintry Close, Harrow, will appear at the same court for trial on May 11 2020.

Further charges of failing to stop and driving without insurance may be dealt with at a later date as they are not charges serious enough to be handled in a crown court.
