Leader of Tren de Aragua gang killed in US strike with help from Venezuela

  • President Donald Trump says the United States killed Hector “Niño Guerrero” Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, the leader of the Tren de Aragua gang , in a strike on Friday night.
  • The president stated that the strike was executed by the United States Southern Command and was closely coordinated with "friends in Venezuela ".
  • Trump shared a video on Truth Social showing an aerial strike destroying a low-lying building, but did not specify the exact location or timing of the operation.
  • “This action was coordinated closely with our friends in Venezuela, with whom we are working very well,” Trump wrote . “As a result, Tren de Aragua terrorists no longer have safe haven in Venezuela or anywhere else and, under my leadership, we will find these vicious murderers and drugs lords anytime, anyplace, and send them to the depths of hell where they belong.”
  • Niño Guerrero was previously charged by US authorities with providing material support to terrorism and directing a criminal enterprise, with American officials also levying sanctions against him and his top lieutenants for alleged ties to drug smuggling, human trafficking, and money laundering.
