Kate Garraway calls out Matt Hancock for confusing public about summer holidays

Kate Garraway called out Matt Hancock for claiming the Government had "all been saying the same thing" about booking summer holidays.

The Good Morning Britain presenter spoke to the Health Secretary, who has admitted that "months ago" he booked a 2021 break in Cornwall, despite warnings from fellow ministers that it is "too soon" to know if summer holidays will be able to get ahead due to the coronavirus pandemic, Mirror Online reports.

Kate, who returned to the ITV show following a rest break, pushed the health secretary on the confusion and mixed messages about summer holidays.

"Well, we're all saying exactly the same thing because unfortunately there is uncertainty ahead," he said.

"We're all working hard so that we can get out of this as safely as possible."

But Kate questioned: "How you can say that you're saying the same thing?

"You're not saying the same thing - you've said that you're going on holiday... it's the complete opposite message."

"That's not quite right," the Health Secretary insisted as he pointed out that there is "uncertainty".

"What we need is clarity," Kate's co-host Ben jumped in before sharing a clip of him saying in January that the public could look forward to a "great British summer" and that he'd already booked his holiday in Cornwall.

Ben probed: "Have you spoken to any of your colleagues about the mixed messaging?"

"I do try to give straight answers," Hancock attempted to reply. "We're all saying the same thing - the future is uncertain."
