- Iran's president, Masoud Pezeshkian, condemned "unprovoked military aggression" hours before Donald Trump was scheduled to address the Oval Office.
- In a letter to the American people, Pezeshkian stated that Iran harbors no animosity towards ordinary Americans and that portraying his country as a threat is inconsistent with reality.
- Pezeshkian denied Trump's assertion that Iran's "new regime president" had requested a ceasefire.
- Trump had claimed the new Iranian leader, whom he described as "much less radicalized," sought to end hostilities to achieve a peace agreement.
- Trump also threatened to "blast Iran into oblivion" if the Strait of Hormuz remained closed, a statement which Iran's foreign ministry dismissed as false and baseless.
