In Fed search, Trump said to have talked with Cohn, Yellen, Warsh, Powell

WASHINGTON _ President Donald Trump has talked with Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen, National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn, Fed board governor Jerome Powell and former governor Kevin Warsh about being the next head of the U.S. central bank, three people familiar with the discussions said.

Trump and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin interviewed Powell and Warsh this week, according to one person. Trump has had discussions with Cohn about the job and has also met with Yellen, another person said. Meetings with additional candidates are in the works, one of the people familiar with the decision said.

Trump said on Friday that he's had four meetings about the next Fed chair and that he'll decide within three weeks whether to reappoint Yellen or replace her. Her term expires in February.
