- The acquisition aims to enhance Google's cloud security offerings and integrate advanced AI capabilities, with Google saying it will “improve cloud security and enable organisations to build fast and securely across any cloud or AI platform”.
- Despite the deal being originally announced in July 2025, it faced scrutiny from regulators over competition concerns, but the European Commission granted unconditional antitrust approval last month.
- Critics fear that while Wiz says it will remain a multi-cloud platform, its integration into Google could lead to ”soft degradation” of support for rival platforms, potentially pushing customers towards Google Cloud and allowing Google to monopolise cloud security.
