Gavin Newsom Slams Libs of TikTok Account Over ICE Protest Taunt: 'Now Do Jan.6'

California Gov. Gavin Newsom

California Governor Gavin Newsom clashed with a well-known social media account after it taunted him over incidents with law enforcement during a protest on Thursday.

Concretely, Libs of TikTok, which has over 4 million followers on X and is known for espousing Republican-aligned views, asked Newsom if he would condemn an incident in which a protester appeared to fire a gun at law enforcement agents during the protest.

"Of course I condemn any assault on law enforcement, you sh-t poster. Now do Jan 6.," Newsom responded.

Newsom was active on social media, also criticizing federal enforcement agencies for conducting a raid on the field. "Kids running from tear gas, crying on the phone because their mother was just taken from the fields. Trump calls me "Newscum" — but he's the real scum," the governor said along with a video showing part of a raid at a marijuana facility.

CBS News detailed that the incident took place in Ventura County, with Border Patrol agents standing in a skirmish line blocking a group of protesters. Agents deployed tear gas on protesters after telling them to back up, also firing non-lethal ammo.

CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott responded to Newsom on social media, saying 10 juveniles were found at the farm. "Here's some breaking news: 10 juveniles were found at this marijuana facility - all illegal aliens, 8 of them unaccompanied," Scott wrote. "It's now under investigation for child labor violations. This is Newsom's California," he said.

The Ventura County Fire Department said four people were taken to the hospital and three others were treated at the scene.

As for the person who appeared to shoot a gun at officers, the FBI issued a $50,000 reward for information that could lead to his arrest.
