Former US President Joe Biden Diagnosed With ‘Aggressive’ Prostate Cancer

Former US President Joe Biden is suffering from an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer, which has spread to the bone.

In a statement to the press on Monday (local time), Biden’s office confirmed the diagnosis after the former President presented to doctors with urinary symptoms.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management,” his office said.

“The former president and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”

The diagnosis comes after a spokesperson for the 82-year-old revealed that a “small nodule” had been found in his prostate, which needed further investigation. After tests, it was revealed he had a level nine cancer on the Gleason scale, a grading system of severity used for prostate cancer which ranges from two to 10.

While anything less than six is considered not to be cancer, a nine is considered to be aggressive.

President Donald Trump has shared well wishes for Biden.

Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis,” he wrote on Truth Social.

There is a 96 per cent survival rate of surviving at least five years after diagnosis. As of 2022, it was the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia.
