Madeleine Westerhout, who previously served as former President Donald Trump's personal secretary, provided insights into the handling of Trump's personal expenses during her court testimony on Thursday.
According to Westerhout, Trump's personal expenses were managed through checks sent from the Trump Organization to employees at the White House. Westerhout would then deliver these checks to the president for his signature.
Describing the process, Westerhout mentioned that the checks would arrive in a FedEx envelope along with a manila folder containing the checks. Sometimes, invoices would be attached to the checks as well.
While Westerhout could not recall the exact frequency of these check deliveries, she noted that they were consistent, possibly arriving twice a month.
She also stated that she had witnessed Trump signing the checks on some occasions. After the president signed them, Westerhout would place the checks in a pre-labeled FedEx envelope and send them back to the Trump Organization.
Although Westerhout could not recall a specific instance where Trump did not sign a check, she did mention that there were a few occasions when Trump sought clarification on certain matters and reached out to former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg or other individuals for assistance.
Westerhout's testimony sheds light on the administrative processes surrounding Trump's personal expenses during his time in office, providing a glimpse into the financial operations within the Trump Organization and the White House.
