FBI notes detail grim demands Epstein made for procurement of underage girls

Investigative notes describing Jeffery Epstein’s detailed demands of the people he sent to procure children for his sexual predation are among the documents released by the Department of Justice on Friday.

They cast a grim spotlight on the actions of Epstein and those around him amid their efforts to procure young women and underage girls for the late disgraced financier. They were part of a long-awaited release of documents from Donald Trump’s justice department, which has been slammed for being only a partial release and heavily redacted.

But one document, called EFTA00004179, consists of a formal FBI evidence cover sheet and 13 pages of handwritten investigative notes from an interview conducted on 2 May 2019. The interview subject is redacted, as is some of the content.

Still, themes emerge; recruitment of girls, sexual encounters under the guise of “massages” and Epstein’s specific preferences regarding age and race.

“Friends of [redacted] friends. Big Brazilian group. Desperate time,” the witness said, according to the notes. “Running out of girls.” The notes ostensibly refer to Epstein by the initials “JE”.

A “dark-skinned Dominican” was brought in during this “desperate time” but “JE didn’t want Spanish or dark girl”, the notes read. The initials of the person who brought the underage girls to Epstein are redacted in the document. This person told Epstein that they had been “bringing young girls” to Epstein, but Epstein complained that “yea but not dark”.

The witness said she was unsure whether Epstein had paid the procurer for the “service”, but that he had paid the girl.

The notes then refer to a bathroom and “boobs and vaginas near bathtub … he got in shower and told her can’t just bring girls he doesn’t like. … told her keep looking for girls”.

“At one point [redacted] witnessed him asking for ID to girl,’” the notes state, “wanted make sure under 18 b/c he wasn’t believing them b/c [redacted] messed up by bringing more older girls.”

The notes contain the witness’s descriptions of sexual encounters, like Epstein making “crazy noises” and touching victims “roughly”.

The document contains photographs of girls described in the notes as from 14 to 17 years old, around town and in bikinis on the beach. The notes reference New York locations: the “41st St Apartment” in Manhattan, locations in Rochester and Brighton Beach, New York, and a high school prom.

The identity of the witness is not clear. The notes jibe with Epstein’s known interest in Brazilian children.

Marina Lacerda, a Brazilian immigrant identified as “Minor-Victim 1” in the federal indictment, was a central witness who spoke publicly for the first time in September. She detailed her abuse by Epstein from the age of 14 and said she saw Donald Trump with Epstein more than once, though Trump has denied knowing of any of Epstein’s criminal actions.

Her testimony ultimately resulted in Epstein’s indictment. Epstein later killed himself in a New York jail cell in 2019.

Jean-Luc Brunel, who founded a modeling agency with Epstein’s support, was arrested in 2022 by French authorities on suspicion of trafficking and raping underage girls. Brunel was accused of supplying more than 1,000 girls and young women for Epstein to have sex with.

In April 2019, Brunel visited an agency in Brazil that his company had worked with in the past to find new models to bring over to the US, according to a source who saw him in Brasilia. Convicted Epstein confidante Ghislaine Maxwell was also reportedly traced to the Brazilian riviera shortly after Epstein’s death.

Brunel killed himself in a Parisian prison on 19 February 2022.
