DoorDash driver allegedly at center of major college football scandal in Michigan

A viral internet rumor claims a DoorDash driver triggered the University of Michigan’s investigation into fired head football coach Sherrone Moore by reporting a Plan B delivery to Moore’s office. Official sources have not confirmed this detail.

The narrative first circulated on Reddit and X threads after Moore’s arrest, as users claimed an anonymous dasher informed Michigan administrators after delivering the emergency contraceptive to Moore’s athletic department workspace. Those posts suggest the unusual delivery raised suspicions that helped kick off the inquiry into Moore’s conduct.

However, no news reporting, law enforcement, or university statement has verified the Plan B delivery or linked it to the official investigation. Investigators have traced the origin of the “DoorDash Plan B” narrative to a parody account on X.

What happened to Sherrone Moore?

According to ESPN, the University of Michigan abruptly fired Moore on December 10, 2025, saying an internal investigation that began weeks earlier found he had violated university policy. Just hours after his dismissal, police were called to a reported assault at a home near Ann Arbor. Moore was detained by Saline officers, then transferred to Pittsfield Township Police, who booked him into the Washtenaw County Jail while prosecutors reviewed potential charges.

The University of Michigan and local law enforcement have otherwise provided very little official information about how the probe began. In a statement announcing his firing, Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel said the school found “credible evidence” that Moore engaged in an “inappropriate relationship with a staff member,” a violation of university policy, but did not mention any DoorDash or Plan B details.

Pittsfield Township police confirmed they responded to a reported alleged assault on Wednesday afternoon, December 10, 2025, and took a suspect into custody. They also emphasized the incident “does not appear to be random in nature” and that it was under review by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office.

According to 911 dispatch audio obtained and reported by multiple outlets, the caller reported that a man alleged to be Moore was attacking her and had been stalking her for months, and that the suspect had grabbed a knife, and then threatened to kill her, before he threw the knife down and ran. The audio also includes a separate call from Moore’s wife saying he was suicidal after losing his job earlier that day.

Who is Sherrone Moore?

Moore, 39, rose through the coaching ranks at the University of Michigan, serving in various staff roles before being named head football coach in January 2024. Over two seasons, Moore compiled a strong record, finishing the 2025 regular season at 9-3 and positioned to lead Michigan into the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl later this month under interim leadership after his firing.

Before becoming head coach, Moore was widely regarded as a rising figure in college football and had been part of Michigan’s program through offensive and leadership roles, including a tenure as offensive coordinator. His contract was reported to be a multi-year, multimillion-dollar deal before the abrupt termination.

On December 12, 2025, ClickonDetroit reported authorities officially charged Moore with home invasion and stalking. Reports say he’s free on $25,000 bond, must wear a GPS tether, and must continue mental health treatment. The university president has stressed zero tolerance for policy violations, and interim coach Biff Poggi has been named to lead the Wolverines into their upcoming bowl game.
