Christian McCaffrey came breathtakingly close to scoring a last-second touchdown

Maybe football really is a game of inches. Well, at least it was for the Packers and Panthers on Sunday.

Trailing the Packers by eight points and 2.5 minutes remaining at a snowy Lambeau Field, Carolina drove deep into Packers territory on an 18-play drive. After an offsides penalty bailed out the Panthers, Carolina had two more tries at scoring a touchdown to set up a tying two-point try.

The Panthers, though, would fall inches short. Literally.

Running back Christian McCaffrey took the second-down run up the middle from the 2 and was met short of the goal line. A second effort and push from Greg Van Roten looked to get McCaffrey close to (if not across) the goal line, but the star running back was marked short.

It was *this* close.

Did McCaffrey get in? He really may have.

The play was reviewed, but given the snowy conditions and players obstructing the view, there was no clear look that could have overturned the call. The call on the field stood, ending the game.

That goal-line stop gave the Packers the 24-16 win.
