Bayern Munich held off a late rally to beat Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 on Tuesday night to maintain their 100 percent record in the Champions League group stages and inflict a first defeat on the defending champions.
Luis Diaz dominated the first-half at the Parc des Princes in Paris.
The 28-year-old Colombian gave his side the advantage with their first meaningful attack four minutes into the encounter.
Serge Gnabry sent Michael Olise clear and though the PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier blocked his shot, Diaz latched on to the rebound and lashed the ball into the net.
Twenty minutes later, PSG thought they had equalised when Ousmane Démbélé bundled the ball over the line but the France international was offside.
It was effectively the Ballon d'Or winner's last contribution. The 27-year-old France international went off with an injury to be replaced by Kang-in Lee.

Shorn of Dembélé's languid wizardry, the hosts laboured despite dominating possession.
Half an hour in, Bayern broke swiftly on the counter and after slick interplay with Harry Kane, Gnabry fired his shot past Chevalier but the ball hit the inside of the post and rolled across the goal to safety.
It was a temporary reprieve.
Three minutes later, Marquinhos, attempting to play out from defence, was muscled off the ball by Diaz who advanced and slapped a shot into the bottom left hand corner of Chevalier's net.

With PSG busy but blunt, Diaz handed them a lifeline.
As he was trying to create more havoc down the Bayern left wing, Hakimi dispossessed him and set off for the Bayern half. Visibly piqued and with Hakimi nearly gone, Diaz launched himself at the ball but his studs caught the Moroccan's ankles.
The referee Maurizio Mariani, showed Diaz a yellow card but it became clear it was an inadequate punishment as Hakimi received extensive medical attention on the pitch.
On the promptings of the video assistants, Mariani brandished a red card. after Hakimi was carried off.
In first-half stoppage time, Fabian Ruiz had a chance to exact instant revenge but the Spain international boomed his shot high over Manuel Neuer's goal.
And PSG's profligacy continued after the break. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had a clear sight of goal but Neuer was equal to the shot and the veteran dealt as adeptly with Vitinha's long range effort.
Substitute Joao Neves halved the deficit 16 minutes from time to set up a grandstand finish in which he and Warren Zaire-Emery fluffed chances to level.
"With 11 against 11, Bayern were stronger, without a doubt," PSG boss Luis Enrique told French broadcaster Canal+.
"We gave them some very nice gifts in the first-half and we could have conceded more.
"In the second-half, it was different because we had an extra player."
