Brits turn to home energy solutions amid rising bills and ‘Trump tax’ fears

  • A significant number of British adults are increasingly interested in home energy solutions such as solar panels, insulation and heat pumps, driven by concerns over rising costs and a perceived “Trump tax”.
  • Despite this growing interest, 60 per cent of the public find these energy-saving technologies too expensive to install, highlighting a major financial barrier.
  • A large majority (71 per cent for insulation, 68 per cent for solar panels and heat pumps) are calling for increased government support and funding to help mitigate future energy crises and reduce household bills.
  • Three-quarters of the public (76 per cent) hold US President Donald Trump responsible for impending energy bill increases linked to the Iran conflict, with 63 per cent labelling these rises a “Trump tax”.
  • Public anger is also directed at energy companies, with 64 per cent believing they are profiteering from the Iran conflict, and over half opposing the end of the windfall tax on these firms.
