Appeal for information on man found seriously injured in Dumbarton East

Detectives are continuing enquiries after a 46-year-old man was found seriously injured in Dumbarton East at the weekend.

A concerned resident contacted emergency services after discovering the man at the rear of shops on Glasgow Road, near Dumbarton East Train Station, with a serious head injury.

Officers have established the identity of the man and a further sighting of him in Burnside Street at Eastfield Crescent around 1:40am on June 1.

He remains in the Royal Alexandra Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as critical.

Extensive enquiries are under way with officers checking CCTV footage and carrying out door-to-door enquiries as they try to establish how the man came about his injuries.

Detective Inspector Ogilvie Ross said:“We know the man left the Stags Head Bar around 1.20am.  We also have a new sighting of him around 1.40am when he is seen in walking in Burnside Street at Eastfield Crescent.

"We are still trying to establish where he was and who he met before being seen again around 1.50am walking in the area of Dumbarton East Train Station in Glasgow Road.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in these areas to think back and consider if they saw anything, in particular, any motorists with dash cams, please check your footage as you may have captured images which could be vital to our investigation.”

Any information can be passed to officers at Clydebank Police Office via 101. Please quote reference number 0823 of the 1 June 2019 when calling.  Crimestoppers can also be contacted in confidence on 0800 555 111.
