5yo girl dies after being found unresponsive in car

Emergency services were called to the scene where the girl was found unresponsive.

A five-year-old girl found unconscious in a parked car in the NSW Hunter region has died in hospital.

Emergency services found the girl when they were called to a home in Tanilba Bay, Port Stephens, on Tuesday.

She was flown to John Hunter Children's Hospital in a critical condition.

Police said she died on Sunday morning and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

The news comes a week after two sisters, aged one and two, died after they were left in a car in the suburb of Logan, south of Brisbane. Their mother, 27-year-old Kerri-Ann Conley, has been charged with two counts of murder.
