Pioneering archaeologist Revil Mason leaves an immeasurable legacy
“Brilliant, creative, unpredictable, sometimes difficult, humorous, an indefatigable field archaeologist.” That’s how the late Professor Phillip Tobias once described his fellow archaeologist Professor Revil John Mason, who passed away in Johannesburg on 23 August 2020. Mason was 91 years old.
