X Factor marred by sound issues leaving contestants sounding like 'Daleks'

The X Factor was marred by sound issues on Saturday night, leaving some of its contestants sounding like "Daleks".

The issues ruined the performances of Danny Tetley and Anthony Russell, with some people calling ITV to axe the phone vote as a result.

A message flashed up on screen during the show which told viewers: "We are sorry for the temporary interference in sound."

But the show had been pre-recorded on Saturday afternoon so there was no message to viewers from its host Dermot O'Leary.

One person wrote on Twitter: "Surely the votes need to be halted. We can't hear them sing properly. It's not fair on them."

Another added: "They’ve got to let poor Danny song again, this isn’t fair."

This Morning host Phillip Schofield wrote: "Oh no!!! They're all Daleks on the X Factor!!!!!"

He added in another tweet: "Feel very sorry for the contestants with this."

One viewer said: "I thought my TV had finally given up on me after eight years but it's just X Factor," while another added: "I thought they were doing the robot effect for Halloween."

An X Factor spokeswoman said it was looking into the problems.
