Which teams played in the Super Bowl the year you were born?

The Super Bowl is the pinnacle of American sports. The game started in January of 1967 and has grown since. Which teams played in the game in the year you were born? The date the game was played is the year that counts.

1967: Packers and Chiefs

The Green Bay Packers were dominant and they pasted the Kansas City Chiefs in the first AFL-NFL Championship. The game was played at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Vince Lombardi’s Packers won, 35-10.

1968: Packers and Raiders

Back-to-back Pack. Bart Starr was MVP for the second year in a row as the Packers trounced the Raiders, 33-14, in a game played at Miami’s Orange Bowl.

1969: Colts and Jets

Joe Namath and the New York Jets turned football on its collective head by upsetting the Baltimore Colts, 16-7, in a game played at the Orange Bowl.

1970: Vikings and Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs made it two straight for the AFL with a 23-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings at Tulane Stadium. Len Dawson was the MVP for KC.

1971: Cowboys and Colts

A thrilling finish as Jim O’Brien kicked a last-second field goal to give Baltimore a 16-13 victory over Dallas at the Orange Bowl. Cowboys LB Chuck Howley was MVP in a losing cause.

1972: Cowboys and Dolphins

The Cowboys and Tom Landry got their Super Bowl by dominating the Miami Dolphins, 24-3, at Tulane Stadium. Roger Staubach was the game MVP.

1973: Redskins and Dolphins

Miami DB Jake Scott was MVP as the Dolphins completed a perfect season with a 14-7 victory over Washington. The only Washington TD came on Garo Yepremian’s infamous pass that Mike Bass collected and took to the end zone.

1974: Vikings and Dolphins

Miami, twice. Larry Csonka was the MVP at Houston’s Rice Stadium. The Dolphins dominated the Minnesota Vikings to the tune of 24-7.

1975: Vikings and Steelers

Franco Harris was the MVP as the Pittsburgh Steelers added to Minnesota’s Super Bowl misery with a 16-6 victory at Tulane Stadium.

1976: Cowboys and Steelers

Lynn Swann (left) was the MVP at the Orange Bowl as Pittsburgh toppled Dallas, 21-17. The wideout from USC had 4 catches for 161 yards and a score.

1977: Vikings and Raiders

The great Fred Biletnikoff was game MVP as the Raiders ran the Vikings to 0-4 in Super Bowls with a 32-14 victory at the Rose Bowl.

1978: Cowboys and Broncos

MVP honors were shared by Randy White and Harvey Martin as Dallas drilled Denver, 27-10, at the Superdome.

1979: Cowboys and Steelers

Terry Bradshaw threw 4 TD passes as Pittsburgh outlasted Dallas, 35-31, at the Orange Bowl.

1980: Rams and Steelers

Pittsburgh made it 4-0 in Super Bowls as it defeated the Rams, 31-19, as Terry Bradshaw made it back-to-back Super Bowl MVP honors.

1981: Eagles and Raiders

Jim Plunkett led the Raiders to a 27-10 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans. Three of Plunkett’s 13 completions went for TDs.

1982: 49ers and Bengals

Joe Montana and the 49ers surged to a 20-0 lead over the Bengals and got a pair of field goals from Ray Wersching to thwart Cincinnati, 26-21, at the Pontiac Silverdome.

1983: Washington and Dolphins

John Riggins was the Washington star, carrying the ball 38 times for 166 yards and a TD. Washington downed Miami, 27-17, at the Rose Bowl.

1984: Washington and Oakland

Marcus Allen and the Oakland Raiders thwarted Washington’s bid for back-to-back titles with a 38-9 thumping at Tampa Stadium. The former USC star rushed for 191 yards and a pair of TDs.

1985:49ers and Dolphins

Dan Marino’s lone Super Bowl appearance ended in a 38-16 loss for the Dolphins to the San Francisco 49ers at Stanford Stadium.

1986: Bears and Patriots

The Chicago Bears shuffled their way to a Super Bowl title by hammering the New England Patriots, 46-10, as defensive end Richard Dent earned MVP honors at the Superdome.

1987: Giants and Broncos

Phil Simms was nearly perfect at the Rose Bowl, going 22-of-25 as the New York Giants pummeled Denver, 39-20, at the Rose Bowl.

1988: Washington and Broncos

Doug Williams was brilliant, throwing 4 TD passes in the second quarter as Washington posted 35 points and went on to a 42-10 romp over the Denver Broncos in San Diego.

1989: 49ers and Bengals

Jerry Rice earned MVP honors with 11 catches for 215 yards and a score, but Joe Montana had to find John Taylor with a late 10-yard TD pass to give the Niners a 20-16 victory over the Bengals at Joe Robbie Stadium. It was Taylor’s lone catch of the game.

1990: 49ers and Broncos

Joe Montana threw a handful of TD passes as San Francisco destroyed Denver, 55-10, at the Superdome.

1991: Giants and Bills

Scott Norwood was wide right and Bill Parcells and the Giants had their second Super Bowl with a 20-19 victory over the Bills at Tampa Stadium. Ottis Anderson earned MVP honors.

1992: Washington and Bills

The second of four consecutive Super Bowl losses for the Bills came against Washington at Minnesota’s Metrodome. The final was 37-24 and Mark Rypien was MVP.

1993: Cowboys and Bills

Dallas posted its first of back-to-back victories against the Bills for the NFL title. Troy Aikman was MVP in the 52-17 victory at the Rose Bowl.

1994: Dallas and Bills

The Bills’ quartet of Super Bowl losses ended with anothe defeat to Dallas. Emmitt Smith earned MVP honors as the Cowboys won, 30-13, at the Georgia Dome.

1995: 49ers and Chargers

This one was ugly. Steve Young was MVP as the 49ers crushed the Chargers, 49-26, at Joe Robbie Stadium.

Larry Brown starred for Dallas making two picks as the Cowboys downed the Steelers, 27-17, at Sun Devil Stadium.

1997: Packers and Patriots

It was many happy returns for Desmond Howard and the Green Bay Packers, who upended New England, 35-21, at the Superdome.

1998: Packers and Broncos

John Elway snapped the Broncos’ Super Bowl drought with the huge help of MVP Terrell Davis, who had 3 TD runs, including the game-winner, in a 31-24 victory over the Packers at Qualcomm Stadium.

1999: Falcons and Broncos

John Elway and the Broncos made it back-to-back for Denver. The QB earned MVP honors with 336 yards passing and a TD through the air and rushing as Denver dropped the Falcons, 34-19, at Pro Player Stadium.

2000: Rams and Titans

Mike Jones made the tackle that stopped Kevin Dyson a yard shy of the goal line, which preserved the Rams’ 23-16 victory over the Titans at the Georgia Dome.

2001: Giants and Ravens

This was a rout as Ray Lewis and the Ravens dominated the Giants to the tune of 34-7 at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium.

2002: Rams and Patriots

The beginning of the Tom Brady era of Super Bowl wins saw Adam Vinatieri kick a late field goal to thwart the Rams’ attempt to go back-to-back. The final score at the Superdome was 20-17 as Brady earned his first MVP in the game.

2003: Bucs and Raiders

Jon Gruden and the Bucs crushed the Raiders, 48-21, in a game that saw Tampa Bay pick off 5 Rich Gannon passes and sack the QB 5 times. Dexter Jackson was the MVP at Qualcomm Stadium.

2004: Panthers and Patriots

Another squeaker and another Patriots victory courtesy of an Adam Vinatieri field goal. The kick with 4 seconds left made it 32-29 and the Patriots had another title and Brady was MVP at Reliant Stadium.

2005: Eagles and Patriots

Back-to-back for New England with a 24-21 victory over the Eagles at Jacksonville’s Alltel Stadium. Deion Branch was the MVP with 11 catches for 133 yards.

2006: Seahawks and Steelers

The Steelers added a Super Bowl trophy with a 21-10 victory at Ford Field. Hines Ward earned MVP honors with 5 catches for 123 yards and a TD.

2007: Bears and Colts

Peyton Manning gets a Super Bowl as the Colts down the Bears, 29-17, at Dolphin Stadium. The Colts dug out of an early hole that saw Devin Hester take the opening kickoff 92 yards for a TD.

2008: Giants and  Patriots

The incredible David Tyree catch helped set up Eli Manning to Plaxico Burress as the Giants stunned the Patriots, 17-14, at University of Phoenix Stadium. It was the lone loss of the season for New England.

2009: Cardinals and Steelers

Ben Roethlisberger and Santonio Holmes connected for a late TD that gave Pittsburgh the title over Arizona in a 27-23 thriller at Raymond James Stadium.

2010: Saints and Colts

Drew Brees, Sean Payton and the Saints capped the emotional comeback for New Orleans in a 31-17 victory over the Colts at Sun Life Stadium. The victory was capped by a Tracy Porter Pick-Six of Peyton Manning.

2011: Packers and Steelers

Aaron Rodgers gets a Super Bowl as the Packers down the Patriots, 31-25, at Cowboys Stadium.

2012: Giants and Patriots

Another Giants upset of the Patriots with Eli Manning as MVP — again — in a 21-17 victory at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

2013: 49ers and Ravens

The game was delayed by a blackout at the Superdome. The Ravens held off the 49ers, 34-31, at the Superdome as Joe Flacco earned MVP honors.

2014: Seahawks and Broncos

It was ugly early as the first play by Denver went for a safety and the rout was on for Seattle, which won, 43-8, at MetLife Stadium. The MVP was Malcolm Smith.

2015: Seahawks and Patriots

Malcolm Butler saved the game with an INT of Russell Wilson as Seattle seemed primed to score a game-winning TD. The final was New England 28, Seattle 24, with MVP honors at University of Phoenix Stadium going to Tom Brady.

2016: Panthers and Broncos

Peyton Manning was in charge as Denver downed Carolina 24-10. MVP honors went to Von Miller at Levi’s Stadium.

2017: Falcons and Patriots

The score was 28-3 in favor of Atlanta and all seemed lost for the Patriots. Never count Bill Belichick and Tom Brady out. They rallied to tie the game and James White scored the winner in OT. The final was 34-28 and the MVP award went to Brady.

2018: Eagles and Patriots

Nick Foles replaced an injured Carson Wentz during the season and the magic in Philly was on. The backup turned starter scored on a TD reception off the “Philly Special” and was MVP as the Eagles outscored New England, 41-33, in Minnesota’ U.S. Bank Stadium.

2019: Rams and Patriots

Julian Edelman was MVP with 10 catches for 141 yards in a 13-3 New England victory over the Los Angeles Rams at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
