Does your dog have a preferred sleeping position, or maybe you haven’t noticed their favourite way to sleep?
Well, believe it or not, a dog's sleeping position can be an indication of their personality and even of how they are feeling.
Next time your dog dozes off on the couch or in their bed, you could learn more about them that you never knew.
Here are dog sleeping positions and what they mean.

The Doughnut
This position is formed when your dog tucks their paws beneath their body and curls up so their head is resting on their tail.
The doughnut is the most common sleeping position for animals in the wild as it provides warmth and protects all their vital organs from any threat they may encounter while they sleep.
Dogs use the position to preserve body heat and protect themselves, which is an indication that they are uncomfortable in their surroundings.
However, it is a cosy position, so chances are they are just super comfy.
Cuddling or back to back
If your dog loves nothing more than cuddling up beside you, it is a great sign that they trust you and want to bond.
They may also do this with other dogs in the house as it could be a habit they have kept on since birth.
Puppies find it more challenging to regulate their body temperature than older dogs, so they are more likely to start cuddling when they are young and become attached to the habit as they grow.
Superman
This pose can look a little strange as it means your dog sleeps on their stomach with their legs outstretched, ready to take flight.
It can be an indication your dog is in a playful mood - as it’s easy for them to get up quickly.
Side sleeping
Dogs sleeping on their side is an excellent sign as it means they have no worries and are carefree.
They are relaxed and comfortable in their environment.
Dogs who sleep like this are usually pretty easy-going and have an affectionate and close bond with their owners.
Lying on your clothes
If your furry friend loves to sleep on your clothes, it means your dog loves you and wants to be close to you.
Clothes are covered in scent and can be comforting for our pets, especially when we're not around.
So next time you come home from work and find your pup asleep on that new sweater you just splashed out on, take it as a compliment!
