West Ham training update as Michail Antonio takes on Ryan Sessegnon amid coronavirus suspension

One of three football free weekends have come and gone.

The Premier League suspension of fixtures means that there has been no action in the league for over a week, with fans and players finding novel ways to pass the time.

It is no different at West Ham, with players and staff unable to access their training facility and David Moyes spending some time in self-isolation.

The Hammers were due to play Wolverhampton Wanderers in the weekend just gone, where they would have been looking to move away from the relegation places with a valuable three points.

Eerie scenes from the London Stadium since all fixtures suspended

Although there is no football, there is still plenty going on around the London Stadium, take a look at the latest below.

Training update

The Hammers have been locked out of their Rush Moor training facility since last Friday amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The training ground has undergone a deep clean following the announcement that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta had tested positive for the virus following the Hammers game against the Gunners.

Players and staff have been unable to access the facility, but it is hoped that players will be able to return to training later this week, although it is still not clear when the team will be back in Premier League action.

Antonio takes on Sessegnon

If the suspension on Premier League fixtures was not in place, then West Ham would have been preparing for a London derby in the Premier League this weekend.

The Hammers would have travelled to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take on Spurs. However, the coronavirus outbreak means that the fixture will now have to be played at a later date, if at all.

But, Hammers' winger Michail Antonio has found a way to ensure that a form of the game does go ahead after all, with Spurs wideman Ryan Sessegnon also getting involved.

Premier League relegation plan

Aston Villa director Jesus García Pitarch has made a suggestion over the debate on the relegation places should the Premier League season fail to be completed this season.

The plan is for the league to resume on April 4th, but the suspension could be extended beyond that date.

"If the peak of the Coronavirus is to occur in May, no one thinks of a competition in which players, coaches, and health personnel of the club will continue to appear every day,"  he said.

His relegation plan would affect West Ham who are just above the drop zone. See what is is here.
