Watch drone footage as Lidl opens its biggest UK warehouse in Eurocentral

Lidl has opened its largest UK distribution centre and created 250 jobs in Eurocentral.

The supermarket’s £70m investment was officially opened by North Lanarkshire Schools Pipe Band, the newly-crowned world champions.

And this drone footage shows just how vast the 58,500m2 warehouse is.

Lidl GB’s regional director for Scotland, Ross Millar, said: “We’re thrilled to be celebrating the opening of our new warehouse in Eurocentral with talented local musicians – a truly Scottish affair to bring in such a significant milestone for us as a business.

“The centre underlines our commitment as a business to create more jobs. Since arriving in Scotland in 1994, we’ve grown to employ more than 2200 people here. I’m incredibly proud of the team here in Eurocentral and look forward to welcoming new members to the Lidl family in the coming weeks and months.”

The Eurocentral base will service Lidl’s 99 Scottish stores, with this number set to rise to 100 in the new year.

It has 600 existing employees, who have relocated from the retailer’s existing distribution centre in Livingston. A further 250 jobs have been created, as the centre aims to reach full capacity, taking the total head count to 850.

The warehouse will manage produce sourced from 60 Scottish suppliers.
