Warriors’ Klay Thompson will officially make his return on Sunday vs. Cavaliers

It’s official, Klay Thompson will make his long-awaited return to the Golden State Warriors against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday at Chase Center in San Francisco.

For the first time since game six of the 2019 NBA Finals, Thompson will lace up alongside Steph Curry, Draymond Green and the rest of his Warriors teammates.

The 31-year-old guard took to Instagram to announce the news about his return. Thompson shared a clip from the movie “Space Jam,” calling actor Bill Murray his “spirit animal” for when he makes his appearance at Chase Center on Sunday.

Along with his clip on Instagram, Thompson had a simple message for Golden State and basketball fans on Twitter.

Thompson has been sidelined for over two seasons due to an ACL and Achilles injury. The five-time All-Star initially suffered a knee injury in the 2019 Finals against the Toronto Raptors. Following his rehab from knee surgery, Thompson tore his Achilles in Nov. 2020.

Fans shouldn’t have to wait long for a Splash Brothers reunion. According to Steve Kerr, Thompson will start in Golden State’s backcourt on Sunday against the Cavaliers.

After over 900 days away from the game, Thompson will make his highly-anticipated debut on Sunday in front of Dub Nation at Chase Center. The Warriors are set to host Cavs at 5:30 p.m. PT.
