It's amazing some of the things that turn up at local online auction house allbids.com.au.

The latest find this week was a vintage Christian Dior full-length mink coat, with snow fox collar and cuffs. It was from the estate of a local woman and sold for $2510 on Wednesday night to a Canberra buyer.

Allbids's art, antiques and collectables head Angus Bowers said the coat was in superb condition and one of a number of furs in the woman's collection. It was being sold by a Tuggeranong family on behalf of their deceased relative.

"It's amazing what you do find in the most unassuming places," he said.

Allbids, based in Fyshwick, is also auctioning section by section the amazing vintage toy collection of Melbourne man Jack Little. A child of the depression who had few toys of his own, Jack made up for it as an adult.

He amassed a collection of more than 2000 toys ranging from Australian pressed-metal toys, model trains of all ages, all scales and gauges, model yachts, Meccano and its Australian counterparts Ezi-Bilt, and much more.

Before he passed away at 99, Jack bequeathed part of his collection to the Museum of Victoria.

The remainder has been entrusted to Allbids by his family to sell to potentially collectors around the world.

The Canberra auction house is breaking down the collection and selling it in monthly online auctions.
