Vikings place two players on reserve/COVID-19 list

In a slew of unending COVID-related moves, the Minnesota Vikings placed tight end Chris Herndon and cornerback Parry Nickerson on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday.

Herndon has been a bit of a letdown this season considering there hasn’t really been a viable fit for him in the offense. He has only been targeted seven times with five receptions for 40 yards and one touchdown. With Irv Smith Jr. sidelined for the season, the initial thought was he could come in and form a nice one-two punch tandem with Tyler Conklin.

The Vikings sent a 2022 fourth-round draft pick to the New York Jets in exchange for Herndon and a sixth-rounder back last August.

The team also announced they had activated linebacker Nick Vigil from the COVID list, along with signing offensive lineman Cole Banwart, a utility player at both center and guard.

In his first season as a Viking, Vigil has tallied 78 tackles, four tackles for a loss, one sack and a pick-six.

An update on Kirk Cousins still hasn’t come through yet. The Vikings starting quarterback went on the list last Friday and missed the Sunday night game against the Green Bay Packers.

On Monday, it was reported that three starting offensive linemen—Christian Darrisaw, Ezra Cleveland and Brian O’Neill—were all placed on the list as well.
