US military says it shot down Iranian drones and radar sites

  • The U.S. military reported shooting down four Iranian drones near the Strait of Hormuz on Friday, subsequently striking Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in retaliation.
  • U.S. Central Command indicated the drones posed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic, amid a U.S. blockade on Iranian ports that has affected global energy prices.

  • Earlier this week, Iranian drones heavily damaged a passenger terminal at Kuwait’s main airport, causing one fatality, dozens of injuries, and a temporary closure of the airfield.
  • President Donald Trump stated on Friday that “the situation with Iran seems to be going quite well,” despite the escalating attacks, and his administration also highlighted a U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel.
