Tributes flow after talented young Dublin dancer Alannah Dunn killed in tragic accident in Spain

Tributes have flowed in after a talented young Dublin dancer was killed in a tragic accident in Spain.

16-year-old Alannah Dunn from Carrickmines passed away on Thursday due to head injuries she sustained in a tragic fall in Granada last month.

It's understood that the young girl was on a student exchange programme in the city, and, according to the Irish Times, was due to return home in the coming weeks.

Leinster Dancing paid tribute to the talented girl last night, saying: "It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you of the sad and tragic passing of Alannah Dunn.

"At only 16 years of age Alannah was unfortunately taken from this life at such a young age after a tragic accident. May she rest in peace.

"Alannah, a previous Leinster World Qualifier was the loving grand daughter of our former council member and colleague Bernadette Chaney Farrell ADCRG, niece of Deirdre Farrell ADCRG and daughter of her heart-broken parents Caitriona Dunn TCRG and Michael Dunn.

"Our hearts truly break for all the family. Thinking of all the extended family at this difficult time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam."

Touching tributes to Alannah were also left on social media.

One read: "Alannah was such a kind and talented girl and was successful in everything she did. Thinking of her family at this extremely difficult time."

Another wrote: "The saddest news. Heartbroken for Alannah’s family. Thoughts and prayers are with the family at this tragic time. Candle lighting here for you all."

And a third said: "So so sad, a young life lost far too soon. Condolences to her family and friends, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May she Rest in Peace."
