Timo Werner and Callum Hudson-Odoi should partner up alongside Lukaku in future games

Chelsea won 3-0 against Tottenham Hotspurs away from home, in Sunday nights fixture. Thiago Silva, N'Golo Kante and Antonio Rudiger all got on the scoresheet meaning not a single attacking player scored.

Chelsea writers and presenters, Scott Clayton (SC), Anita Abayomi (AA) and Jake Stokes (JS) - on Monday Morning's Facebook Live discussed how Thomas Tuchel should line up Chelsea's front three after their game against Spurs.

Here's a brief look at their conversation on the players who could replace Mason Mount and Kai Havertz to play alongside Romelu Lukaku…

SC: “It’s easy now to pick a different line-up than what you said. Going into the game I would have picked Mason Mount. Now coming out of I think Werner was probably the better one to pick and I think the link-up he had with Lukaku was an interesting one. He got Lukaku into the game as well.

“Yes, we were up on goals and Tottenham were able to start opening up spaces to score a goal but, I think the link-up Werner had with the front two of Havertz and Wener - with Lukaku it was good to see and I would like to see a bit more.

“I’m going to say I wouldn’t be unhappy if he (Wener) actually started against City and we played the front two of Lukaku and Werner.”

AA: “I guess we’ve got quite a few options of players against City as well. So, Jake what attacking players would you choose against City, or even midweek against Aston Villa?"

JS: “First and foremost is the first name on the teamsheet at the moment. But, I’d really like to see Hudson-Odoi in that front three. He’s got a massive claim to say to Tuchel, look I deserve an opportunity in that front three. Seeing Mount and Havertz not be as fluid as we would have liked.

“But, I think that’s normal, especially with the number of games Mount has played over the last season of two. I think it’s caught up with him a little bit, which is normal. So, I’d like to see Hudson-Odoi and even Wener alongside Lukaku in the next fixture."

AA: “For me, I have an issue. I think Timo Werner might be better suited for Romelu Lukaku going forward. Now, we saw them playing briefly against Tottenham in Sunday’s match.”
