This week's family streaming picks

This week on the streaming sites, there are a few family-friendly new additions for kids and parents to enjoy, dropping on Friday.

On Disney+, watch Season 3 of the Emmy-winning animated series “Elena of Avalor,” following the adventures of a teenage Latina princess. Also arriving on the service are a few recent favorite films, including “Mary Poppins Returns,” directed by Rob Marshall, with Emily Blunt stepping into the iconic boots and hat of the magical British nanny, alongside Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda as chimney sweep Burt.

Also on Disney+, Wes Anderson’s 2018 stop-motion animated film “Isle of Dogs” (featuring a star-studded voice cast of course) and the 2006 sequel “Doctor Dolittle 3," about the daughter of the vet who can talk to animals.

On Netflix, Season 4 of the animated series “Carmen Sandiego," featuring the voice of Gina Rodriguez in the title role, arrives Friday, as well as Steven Spielberg’s Robin Williams-starring take on the Peter Pan tale, the 1991 film “Hook” (which costars Dustin Hoffman as the inimitable Captain Hook). Also on Netflix, check out the 2014 animated feature “Penguins of Madagascar: The Movie,” and “Pinkfong & Baby Shark’s Space Adventure," but FYI, this is "Baby Shark" as in the song, so beware those insidious earworms.
